The Fall of Isiah Thomas

On April 18, 2008 it was official. Isiah Thomas was no longer head coach and general manager of the New York Knickerbockers.

No more "Fire Isiah!" chants.
No more Stephon Marbury/Steve Francis backcourt.
No more trading two lottery picks for a 285 pound center who doesn't jump.
No more trying to put a band-aid on a gunshot wound.
No more paying Jerome James $30 million to sit on the bench for five years.
No more sexual harassment trials.
No more 104-59 losses in Boston.
No more 59-loss seasons.

The fall of Isiah Thomas marks the end of one of the darkest times in Knicks history. The team still has a long way to go before it will be a contender again, but the firing of Isiah Thomas was the first necessary step in a long process. I don't know if Donnie Walsh is the answer- after all he did hire Isiah as a head coach in Indiana- but he seems dedicated to bringing high-quality basketball back to New York. So for now, In Donnie We Trust.
