They're not saying "Boo", they're saying "Roooooster"

With the sixth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, the New York Knicks select Danilo Gallinari from Italy. "Il Gallo", or "The Rooster", was met by boos from the Madison Square Garden crowd after his name was announced by David Stern, but that's only because most of them didn't even know who Gallinari was.

I think it was the right pick for the Knicks, one of the few teams in the NBA without a single international player on its roster. He seems like the perfect player for D'Antoni's offense: a versatile 6'10 swingman who can play the 2, 3, or 4. He may take time to adjust to the NBA's style of play, but right now the Knicks have time. They certainly aren't a championship caliber team, and are a borderline playoff team. Donnie Walsh seems content to wait until 2010 to make any major roster adjustments, which should leave time for Gallinari to develop.
